Practice, Quality & Innovation provides strategic leadership to
advance professional practice, clinical quality, and
interprofessional collaboration across patient care services within
the University of Miami Health System (UHealth). This position
directs programs that support workforce development across
inpatient and ambulatory areas, enhances lifelong learning across
clinical professions, and promotes clinical innovation, aligning
with regulatory standards, quality and safety priorities, and the
organization's mission. The position is also a key leader in
guiding UHealth toward achieving and sustaining Magnet designation
and other recognition programs, fostering a culture of excellence,
equity, and psychological safety.CORE JOB FUNCTIONSStrategic
Leadership & Magnet Designation:1. Sets the strategic direction for
professional practice, research, and education across UHealth to
advance clinical excellence.2. Leads efforts to achieve and
maintain Magnet designation, integrating its standards into
organizational culture and practice.3. Collaborates with
interdisciplinary teams, including Human Resources, Quality,
Informatics, and Safety, to enhance care delivery and achieve
clinical quality benchmarks.4. Partners with key stakeholders to
identify, evaluate, and implement innovative care delivery models
and technologies.5. Provides strategic direction and guidance to
support the academic practice partnership between UHealth and the
School of Nursing and Health Studies.6. Provides strategic
direction and partnership with the Miller School of Medicine and
other internal stakeholders to offer mutually beneficial
outcomes.7. Supports ambulatory care services according to scope
and standards of practice in an effort to grow the professional
workforce of outpatient clinical areas.Professional Practice &
Workforce Development:1. Directs system-wide educational
initiatives, including orientation, transition-to-practice
programs, competency validation, and continuing education for
clinical staff.2. Oversees professional governance structures and
supports the development of clinical leaders across nursing and
other disciplines as well as the development of ongoing mentor
programs.3. Leads efforts to enhance professional practice through
the integration of evidence-based practice, research, and quality
improvement initiatives.4. Manages clinical placement programs for
nursing and other healthcare students, strengthening
academic-practice partnerships.Quality, Safety, & Accreditation:1.
Establishes performance improvement frameworks to measure and
enhance the impact of education and professional development on
care quality and clinical outcomes.2. Collaborates with Quality,
Safety, Risk Management, and Human Resources to ensure compliance
with regulatory requirements and sustain external accreditation
programs.3. Guides interprofessional teams in developing and
implementing policies, procedures, and care standards that reflect
best practices and align with organizational goals.Leadership &
Psychological Safety:1. Cultivates a culture of psychological
safety, inclusivity, and shared decision-making to empower clinical
teams and support workforce engagement.2. Mentors and develops
clinical and educational leaders, fostering an environment of
innovation, collaboration, and professional growth.3. Promotes
systems thinking and strategic alignment across disciplines to
optimize care delivery and operational outcomes.Operational
Excellence:1. Utilizes data analytics to assess educational
initiatives, monitor workforce performance, and ensure alignment
with strategic goals.2. Evaluates the return on investment of
education and development programs, integrating performance metrics
to drive continuous improvement.3. Oversees the development and
implementation of system-wide clinical practice standards, ensuring
consistency and alignment with quality and safety priorities.CORE
QUALIFICATIONSEducation:Doctoral level degree in nursing, health
education, or another relevant field from an accredited
institution.Certification and Licensing:Registered Nurse License
from the state of Florida; Basic Life Support Certification
(BLS).Experience:Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
Experience in Magnet designation and curriculum development highly
preferred.Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:--- Experience working in
an academic environment.--- Expertise in executive patient care
programs and developing programs to meet clinical needs and or
facilitate operations.--- Evaluation and working with
interdisciplinary partners.--- Ability to mentor, manage and lead
staff in a variety of settings to provide effective and compliant
care and services.--- Ability to work with staff at all levels.---
