Job Description:
The Health Screening Technician will support multiple
demographics by conducting health screenings, responding to
questions about program qualifications, and providing information
on available benefits. The individual in this role will play a
critical part in assisting individuals in understanding and
accessing health-related programs and services, ensuring a high
level of customer service and confidentiality. This position is
essential for promoting health equity and access to critical
services within the community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct health screenings for program participants, collecting
relevant health data, and providing guidance on program
eligibility.
- Answer questions regarding health program qualifications,
benefits, and application procedures.
- Provide clear and accurate information to diverse populations,
including low-income, elderly, immigrant, and disabled individuals,
ensuring cultural sensitivity and understanding.
- Assist individuals in completing necessary documentation and
forms for eligibility determination.
- Collaborate with other health professionals and team members to
support client needs and ensure smooth enrollment into
programs.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of health
screenings, participant information, and program eligibility
status.
- Adhere to organizational policies and regulations regarding
client confidentiality, HIPAA compliance, and data
protection.
- Assist in organizing outreach activities and health education
events to promote awareness of available health programs and
services.
- Provide assistance with follow-up communications for clients
needing additional support or information.
- Participate in training and professional development to stay
up-to-date with health screening procedures and program
qualifications.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in healthcare, public health,
social work, or a related field, OR equivalent experience in
nonprofit customer support or healthcare-related roles.
- Previous experience in a healthcare, social services, or
customer service role is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability
to interact effectively with diverse populations.
- Ability to explain complex health information in a clear and
accessible manner.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
and discretion.
- Basic knowledge of health screenings, programs, and eligibility
requirements preferred.
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus (depending on
the demographics served).
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within
a team.
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds as needed.
- Ability to perform tasks involving repetitive movements,
including typing and data entry.
